According To The variety Charli XCX has booked her second big-screen role, as the mother of brat summer has been cast in Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex.”
A feature described as a descent into a world of “sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder” — albeit with an irreverent tone — the singer joins previously announced leads Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman (“Licorice Pizza”).
Details on Charli’s role are under wraps. Director Araki penned the script with Karley Sciortino and production is set for October in Los Angeles via Black Bear. Charli, born Charlotte Emma Aitchison, was also cast last spring in Daniel Goldhaber’s forthcoming remake of the cult classic “Faces of Death” from Legendary Entertainment.
The full synopsis of “I Want Your Sex” reads: “How far is too far? When fresh-faced Elliot (Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse. But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder. Featuring outrageous characters and a playful sense of humor, I Want Your Sex will upend expectations in a way that will both shock and delight!” Seth Caplan, a recipient of Film Independent’s John Cassavetes award, is producing with Araki, Sciortino, and Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman. John Friedberg, Joanne Roberts Wiles and Courtney L. Cunniff will serve as executive producers for Black Bear; Michael Heimler produces. The indie label will fully finance the picture and represent international rights. CAA Media Finance will sell domestic. Arlie Day and Mike Page are associate producing and casting the picture.
